DocBook (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website docbookapp.com and the DocBook mobile application (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service. By using DocBook, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the Service:

• Account information: Name, email address, mobile phone number, and password when you register.
• Profile data: Date of birth, gender, and any health information you voluntarily add (e.g., medical conditions, allergies).
• Booking data: Appointments booked, doctors consulted, visit notes, and prescriptions.
• Device & usage data: Device type, operating system, IP address, app version, and usage patterns collected automatically.
• Location data: Approximate location (city/region) used to show nearby doctors. We do not continuously track your location.
• Payment data: Transaction reference IDs processed via our payment partners. We do not store card numbers or CVV details.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Process and manage your appointment bookings.
• Send booking confirmations, reminders, and queue updates.
• Enable doctors and clinics you book with to access your relevant visit history.
• Provide customer support and respond to your enquiries.
• Improve, personalise, and secure the Service.
• Comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Sharing Your Information

We share your information only as necessary:

• Healthcare providers: Doctors and clinics you book with receive your name, contact details, and booking information.
• Payment processors: Razorpay and PayU process your payments. They operate under their own privacy policies.
• Cloud infrastructure: Firebase (Google) is used for authentication and database services.
• Analytics: Aggregated, anonymised usage data may be used for product analytics.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. Payment Data Handling

All payment transactions are processed by Razorpay and PayU, which are PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways. DocBook does not store your card numbers, CVV, or UPI PIN. We receive only a transaction reference ID and status. For details, see Razorpay’s and PayU’s respective privacy policies.

6. Data Security & Retention

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit and encryption at rest for sensitive data. We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active, plus any additional period required by applicable law. You may request deletion of your account and data at any time — see Section 8.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Update inaccurate information via the app’s profile settings.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data. See our Account & Data Deletion page or email support@docbookapp.com.
• Portability: Data portability is not available. User data is stored in Firebase; refer to Firebase Authentication terms for details.

8. Third-Party Services

DocBook integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication and real-time database.
• Razorpay: Payment processing — razorpay.com/privacy.
• PayU: Payment processing — payu.in/privacy-policy.

9. Children’s Privacy

DocBook is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact support@docbookapp.com.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
