Account & Data Deletion
DocBook respects your right to control your personal data. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time using the methods below.
1. How to Request Deletion (In-App)
To delete your account directly from the DocBook app:
- Open the DocBook app and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Profile → Delete Account.
- Confirm your identity and submit the deletion request.
2. How to Request Deletion by Email
If you cannot access the app or prefer to request deletion by email:
- Email support@docbookapp.com with the subject line: “Account Deletion Request”.
- Include your registered email address or mobile number in the email body.
- We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request.
3. What Data Is Deleted
Upon a confirmed deletion request, we will delete:
- Your account profile (name, email, phone number, date of birth).
- Your appointment and booking history.
- Health records and prescriptions stored in DocBook.
- App preferences and settings.
4. What Data Is Retained
Some data may be retained after account deletion as required by applicable law:
- Transaction records: Financial transaction records (booking payments, refunds) may be retained for 6 months as required by Indian GST and tax laws.
- Legal obligations: Any data we are legally required to retain under Indian law, court orders, or regulatory requirements.
- Anonymised data: Aggregated, anonymised data that cannot identify you may be retained for analytics purposes.
5. Deletion Timeline
Account deletion is completed instantly from DocBook of your confirmed request. You will receive an email confirmation once your account and data have been deleted. During the processing period, your account will be deactivated and not visible to other users.
